Colour Trend: Going Lighter

April 27, 2015 7:53 am

With spring finally here, it’s the perfect time to try the latest celebrity trend –blondes! Sienna Miller, Michelle Williams and Robyn Wright Penn are the latest A-listers to lighten their hair colour, and you too can achieve this change by following the advice of our colour specialists.

People presume that going blonde means reaching straight for a bottle of bleach, but there are lots of different products used in salons that can lighten hair without using harmful bleaches. Never attempt a drastic colour change at home, especially to blonde, as your hair’s condition, current colour and porosity can all affect how the colour develops. A salon expert will be able to assess all of this and ensure you leave the salon with the best colour possible.

You can make sure your Blonde hair is super shiny by using shine enhancing products such as our High Shine Glosser, or Smoothing Serum. Both will add light reflecting pigments to the hair to return its healthy glow.

Going blonde will need maintenance, so be prepared to visit the salon every 4-12 weeks depending on the technique to have roots touched-up, especially if your natural colour is dark. There are things you can do at home to keep your colour looking vibrant and fresh – try using a silver shampoo with purple pigment (which mimics a salon toner) to stop blonde from looking brassy.
