Here are some tips from Trevor and his stylists on how to achieve the best results from backcombing:
- Backcombing works best on day old hair, if you have to wash it then use volumising shampoo and conditioners and apply dry shampoo to slightly mattify the hair which will help the backcomb hold.
- Wok on small sections of hair; hold them away from away from the head and start with the comb a few centimeters away from the root.
- Push hair down towards the roots, against the direction of growth – try three strokes.
- Continue this on every hair section that you need to backcomb.
- Finish with a firm hold hairspray to ensure the look holds.
