Simple Hair: Top Knot

Sometimes the simplest styles can look the most effective – this easy-to-master top knot is great for mid-long length hair, and looks effortlessly stylish. Follow our step-by-step guide to recreate this look on your own hair.

Prepare hair with Volume Shampoo and Conditioner, and while it is still damp, evenly distribute Invisible Hold Mousse throughout the hair. Hair needs to have as much movement as possible for this style, so try drying hair upside down, and using a radial brush to create shape through the ends. Once hair is prepped and dry, spray Dry Shampoo through the roots, to create a soft, ethereal effect. Brush and smooth hair into a high ponytail just above the crown, and secure it with a band or bungee.

Thread the ponytail through a hair donut, and secure in place at the base of the ponytail with some pins or grips. It is important that the donut is securely attached at this stage, so that the hair can then loosely be styled around it, without the worry that the hair won’t stay in place.

Style the hair around the donut until you are happy with the shape. The more movement you were able to create in the hair in Step 1, the easier this step will be.

Pin the finished style in place using grips, and spray with Natural Hold Hairspray. To make the look softer, gently loosen strands of hair from the sides of the face, and from the donut to frame the style.
